Atty. Jose Mari O. Magsalin, MBA

Atty. Magsalin has been in the practice for over 20 years, specializing in various areas of law, with a strong focus on taxation. He earned his Bachelor of Laws from University of Santo Tomas and later pursued a Master of Business Administration at the Ateneo Graduate School of Business, equipping him with a solid grasp of legal principles and a sound business perspective that he integrates seamlessly in his current practice.

He began his career as a working student in government service, building firsthand experience in the public sector and developing familiarity with election laws. He later honed his skills at several prestigious law firms, where he worked extensively in multiple areas of practice including Taxation, Civil and Criminal Litigation, Corporate Governance and Rehabilitation, as well as Labor Law enabling him to build a strong foundation for his diverse practice today.

In 2007, he co-founded Magsalin and Associates where he translated years of experience acquired from his previous roles at leading law firms into dedicated client service. He continues to lead his established practice while serving an expanding roster of clients, ensuring their success remains at the forefront of his work. Atty. Magsalin also heads Bizwise Solutions, Inc., which offers comprehensive consultancy in corporate and tax matters. In this capacity, he provides expert interpretation of various tax provisions while also drawing from both local and international jurisprudence to support companies in navigating complex business matters. Another core aspect of his role is helping clients make informed decisions on their merger and acquisition strategies, with the ultimate objective of mitigating risks and liabilities while maximizing the benefits of consolidation.

In addition to his legal practice, he is also a member of the academe. Since 2023, he has been teaching Taxation 1 and 2, Civil Procedure, Criminal Law 1 and Torts, sharing his legal knowledge and experience with future members of the profession. Motivated by a desire to give back to the community, Atty. Magsalin established Magsalin Law Foundation, Inc. With the mission of promoting corporate responsibility and advocating for those with fewer opportunities in life, he actively supports initiatives that create lasting and meaningful change for those in need.
